Slocum TPLO
Slocum TPLO is the most up-to-date treatment for ruptured Cruciate Ligaments. The procedure has been proven to reduce arthritic change in the stifle joint compared to standard repairs (www.slocumenterprises.com).
The procedure is usually performed on dogs weighing over 20kg, but some small breeds also require this procedure if their Tibial Plateu is too steep. Your vet will be able to explain this to you.
It is especially important for you to consider this procedure if your dog weighs over 30kg as the long-term outcome from normal repair can be less than satisfactory
If you require any further information on Slocum TPLO please speak to your usual vet or contact us directly.
Shown below are some pictures of the equipment used during the procedure and some post-operative x-rays of patients.
