Canine Total Hip Replacement
Total Hip Replacement can be used for a dog suffering from pain in his/her hip joint, usually due to hip dysplasia or arthritis.
At Christchurch Veterinary Surgery the system that we use is the Biomedtrix CFX. Shane Morrison BVSc Cert SAS MRCVS is highly trained in this procedure.
Shown below is an X-ray of an artificial hip implanted in a Labrador, and also an implant before insertion.
Although the procedure is very involved, the patients are usually a lot more comfortable just one week after surgery than they were before. The procedure gives a good long term outcome which enables the patient to lead a normal life.
If you think that your dog may be a candidate for Total Hip Replacement then please contact us and we will be able to give more information and advice.
